The New Orleans Saints officially placed DE D.J. Pettway and DB Jimmy Pruitt on waivers Monday with failed physical designations.
Pettway, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama back in May of last year. However, he was waived with an injury designation during the preseason and later reverted to the Saints injured reserve list where he remained for the entire 2016 season.
During his four-year career at Alabama, Pettway recorded 48 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, seven sacks and five pass defenses.
