Seahawks Waive TE Tyrone Swoopes From IR With Settlement

The Seahawks announced Tuesday they’ve waived TE Tyrone Swoopes from injured reserve with a settlement.

Swoopes, 24, signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Texas back in May of 2017. He converted to play tight end in the NFL after appearing as a quarterback during his college career.

He has bounced on and off Seattle’s practice squad since joining the league. He signed on with the Seahawks on a futures deal this past January.

In 2018, Swoopes appeared in one game for the Seahawks and caught one pass for 23 yards.

During his four-year college career as a quarterback for Texas, Swoopes recorded 281 completions on 499 attempts (56.3 percent) for 3,038 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
