The Pittsburgh Steelers have made RT Marcus Gilbert available for trade, according to Adam Schefter.
Gilbert indicated via his Twitter account that something was up, but it appears as though the Steelers will try to get something in return for him as opposed to releasing him right now.
Gilbert, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Steelers back in 2011. He was entering the final year of his six-year, $30.815 million contract that included a $7.65 million signing bonus and is set to make a base salary of $4,865,103 for 2018.
According to OverTheCap.com, trading Gilbert will free up $4,915,103 of available cap space while creating $1,728,500 in dead money.
In 2018, Gilbert appeared in five games for the Steelers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 41 overall offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
