Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post reports that Washington is releasing veteran G Jeremy Vujnovich and waiving WR Emanuel Hall (Achilles) with a non-football injury designation.
This leaves Washington’s roster at 84 players.
A number of teams have already begun the process of trimming their roster down to 80 players ahead of training camp. Teams have the option to either carry 90 players as part of split squads or cut their roster down to 80 players.
Hall suffered a torn Achilles last month, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.
Vujnovich, 29, wound up going undrafted out of Louisiana College and later signed on with the Packers in 2014. He spent over two years in Green Bay before catching on with the Colts following the 2015 season.
Vujnovich played two years in Indianapolis before joining the Cardinals at the start of the 2018 season. Arizona brought him back on an exclusive rights contract last year but he was once waived at the start of the regular season.
Washington signed Vujnovich to a contract this past March.
For his career, Vujnovich has appeared in 23 games for the Colts and Cardinals and started 18 games.
Hall, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Missouri back in 2019. He later agreed to a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Bears as a priority undrafted free agent.
Unfortunately, the Bears cut him loose during the preseason and he was later claimed off waivers by the Buccaneers. From there, he was on and off of the Bucs’ practice squad before the Redskins signed him to their taxi squad in December.
Hall returned to Washington on a futures contract.
During his college career at Missouri, Hall caught 97 passes for 2,016 yards receiving and 16 touchdowns over the course of four seasons and 32 games.
