This opens up a 21-day window for Sims to practice with the team before Washington has to place him on the active roster.
Sims, 23, signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas in 2019. He has made the roster each of the past two seasons.
In 2020, Sims has appeared in three games for Washington and caught six passes for 103 yards. He also has 42 kickoff return yars and 56 punt return yards.
