Cardinals Extend Low-Round Tenders To RFAs WR Jaron Brown, S Tony Jefferson, & S D.J. Swearinger

The Arizona Cardinals extended low-round tenders to restricted free agents WRย Jaron Brown, S Tony Jefferson, and S D.J. Swearinger, according to Tom Pelissero.

Each of these tendersย will cost the Cardinalsย $1,671,000 for the 2016ย and give them theย right of first refusal on any contract offer theyย receive. However, if they elect to not match an offer sheet, Arizona would not receive anyย compensation forย either player.

Jefferson, 24, signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2013.

In 2015, Jefferson appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and recorded 78 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, three forced fumbles and five pass defenses.

Swearinger, 23, is a formerย second-round pick of the Texans out ofย South Carolina back in 2013.ย The Texans waivedย Swearinger shortly after the draft, andย he was later claimed by the Buccaneers. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay cut him loose a fewย weeks ago.

Swearinger wound up signing to the Cardinals’ practice squad midseason before getting called up.

In 2015,ย Swearinger has appeared in seven games for the Buccaneers and Cardinals and recorded 19ย tackles one forced fumble, two recoveries and a pass defense.
