Cardinals Extend Low-Round Tenders To RFAs WR Jaron Brown, S Tony Jefferson, & S D.J. Swearinger

The Arizona Cardinals extended low-round tenders to restricted free agents WR Jaron Brown, S Tony Jefferson, and S D.J. Swearinger, according to Tom Pelissero.

Each of these tenders will cost the Cardinals $1,671,000 for the 2016 and give them the right of first refusal on any contract offer they receive. However, if they elect to not match an offer sheet, Arizona would not receive any compensation for either player.

Jefferson, 24, signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2013.

In 2015, Jefferson appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and recorded 78 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, three forced fumbles and five pass defenses.

Swearinger, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Texans out of South Carolina back in 2013. The Texans waived Swearinger shortly after the draft, and he was later claimed by the Buccaneers. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay cut him loose a few weeks ago.

Swearinger wound up signing to the Cardinals’ practice squad midseason before getting called up.

In 2015, Swearinger has appeared in seven games for the Buccaneers and Cardinals and recorded 19 tackles one forced fumble, two recoveries and a pass defense.
