49ers GM John Lynch said the team will place RB Jeff Wilson and S Tarvarius Moore on the active/PUP list to start training camp, per Matt Barrows.
Lynch added they’re still doing physicals and could add more players to the list, including S Jaquiski Tartt.
Wilson and Moore will count against the 90-man roster and are eligible to be activated at any time. However, this is the first step to potentially putting them on the PUP list to start the season, which is expected for Wilson. Moore had an Achilles injury back in June.
Wilson, 25, wound up going undrafted out of North Texas back in 2018. He later signed a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the 49ers, but was waived coming out of the preseason.
Wilson has been on and off the 49ers practice squad and active roster the past few seasons, seeing spot duty as a reserve and special teamer due to injuries ahead of him on the depth chart.
In 2020, he appeared in 12 games and recorded 26 rushing attempts for 600 yards (4.8 YPC) and seven touchdowns, to go along with 13 receptions for 133 yards receiving (10.2 YPC) and three touchdowns.
Moore, 24, was drafted by the 49ers in the third round out of Southern Mississippi in 2018. He’s entering the final year of a four-year, $3.351 million rookie deal and was set to make a base salary of $920,000 in 2021.
In 2020, Moore appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and recorded 52 total tackles, one forced fumble, one recovery and one pass defense. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 61 safety out of 94 qualifying players.
