Jets
According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, the Jets are “100 percent taking a quarterback” at No. 3 overall.
A team source tells Vacchiano: “You’d have to be brain dead to think we’re not drafting a quarterback.”
- Like everyone else, Vacchiano says the decision is likely between Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield and UCLA’s Josh Rosen.
- Before the Jets agreed to the trade with the Colts for the No. 3 overall pick, Vacchiano says New York reached out to the Browns at No. 1 pick, but were turned down.
- However, if the Browns end up taking Josh Allen at No. 1 overall and the Giants go with RB Saquon Barkley, Vacchiano says you can expect the Jets to run the card with USC QB Sam Darnold‘s name on it up to the podium.
- In fact, if Darnold falls to the Giants at No. 2 overall, Vacchiano believes the Jets could contact the Giants about moving up for him.
- While some have said that Mayfield likely has an edge on Rosen, Vacchiano writes that it’s still a tossup and it remains to be seen which quarterback GM Mike Maccagnan actually prefers.
Patriots
- Mike Reiss reports that the Patriots hosted Boise State LB Leighton Vander Esch, Oregon OT Tyrell Crosby and Alabama WR Calvin Ridley for pre-draft visits last Wednesday.
- Reiss says it seems like a “no-brainer” for the Patriots to pick up fifth-year options on defensive tackles Danny Shelton and Malcom Brown.
- As for WR Phillip Dorsett, Reiss writes that it’s hard to imagine New England would be willing to pay him close to $9 million for the 2019 season.
Raiders
- Scott Bair of NBC Sports writes that the Raiders could be considering drafting a receiver during the middle rounds and mentions Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk, Oklahoma State’sย James Washington,ย Washington’sย Dante Pettis,ย USC’sย Deontay Burnett,ย and Texas A&M’sย Damion Ratleyย as some candidates to watch.
