Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that as of Tuesday night, it sounds like the bidding for Patriots free agent LT Nate Solder was down to the Giants or the Texans. Rapoport adds that there wasn’t a lot of optimism that he’d return to New England.
- Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns decision to sign OT Chris Hubbard to a five-year deal worth $37.5 million won’t preclude them from continuing to pursue Solder.
- John McClain reports that the Texans are still trying to sign Solder to play left tackle for them.
- According to Albert Breer, the Giants are another team in the mix for Solder after they missed out on signing G Andrew Norwell earlier in the day.
- According to Tom Curran, Solder won’t be taking any visits.
Solder, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Patriots back in 2011. He’s played all seven seasons for the Patriots and is now in position to test the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2017, Solder appeared in 16 games for the Patriots and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 33 offensive tackle out of 85 qualifying players.
