You can expect the Cowboys to place Frederick on the retired list in the coming days, which will ensure they hold his rights should he opt to come out of retirement at some point.
Frederick missed the entire 2018 season with Guillain Barre Syndrome, which is a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks your nerves. He was, however, able to return to the Cowboys last year and didn’t miss a game.
Frederick, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. He was entering the fifth year of his eight-year, $66.56 million that included $26.2 million guaranteed.
Frederick was set to make base salaries of $7 million and $6.8 million over the next two years of the agreement.
For his career, Frederick appeared in 96 games for the Cowboys, making 96 starts for them at center. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro in 2016.
