The Los Angeles Rams are signing DT Ndamukong Suh to aย one-year, $14 million deal, according to Adam Schefter.
- According to Albert Breer, Suhโs contract with the Rams is very real and includes a fully guaranteed $14 million base salary for the 2018ย season to go along with $1 million of incentives that can push the deal up to $15 million.
The Rams have already announced the move:
โWe are excited have Ndamukong as a part of the Los Angeles Rams,โ GMย Les Sneadย said in a statement. โHeโs been an outstanding player in this league and we are looking forward to him being a part of our defense.โ
Rapoportย reported earlier in the day that the Rams “appear to be the front-runner” to sign Suh, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.
The Saints and Titans both hosted Suh for visits and the Jets reportedly made him the largest offer. However, it appears as though Suh felt that joining the Rams for the 2018 season was his best option in endย the.
L.A. now has the most formidable interior defensive line tandem between Suh and Aaron Donald to go with a revamped secondary that consists of Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Suh to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Suh, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Lions back in 2010. He spent five years in Detroit before signing a six-year, $114 million contract that included $60 million guaranteed with the Dolphins a few years ago.
Suh was set to make base salaries of $16.985 million (2018), $18.985 million (2019), and $18.36 million (2020) over the remainder of the contract when the Dolphins designated him as a post-June 1 release.
In 2017, Suh appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and recorded 48 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 interior defender out of 122 qualifying players.
