The Arizona Cardinals announced Monday that they’ve waived OT Andre Smith and CB Bene Benwikere and placed LB Josh Bynes on injured reserve.
Smith, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2009. After seven years in Cincinnati, Smith signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Vikings.
Smith later returned to the Bengals last year on a one-year,ย $3.25 million contract before agreeing to aย two-year, $8 million deal with the Cardinals this past March.
Benwikere, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He’s was in the third year of his four-year, $2.419 million contract when the Panthers cut him looseย during the 2016 season.
Benewikere had brief stints with the Dolphins and Packers before he signed a futures contract with the Bengals last February. Cincinnati later traded him to the Cowboys for a conditional 2019 sixth-round pick.
The Cardinals signedย Benewikere to a contract this past March.
In 2018, Benwikere has appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals and recorded 51 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a forced fumble and four pass defenses.
