The Kansas City Chiefs officially designated DB Steven Nelson to return from injured reserve on Monday and signed OT Nick Becton to their practice squad.
The Chiefs’ practice squad now consists of:
- WR Gehrig Dieter
- G Damien Mama
- S Leon McQuay
- RB George Atkinson
- DB Keith Reaser
- DT Daniel Ross
- TE Neal Sterling
- WR Amba Etta-Tawo
- WR Marcus Kemp
- OT Nick Becton
Nelson, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.902 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement.
The Chiefs placed Nelson on injured reserve coming out of the preseason and the expectation was that he was going to be activated from injured reserve later on in the year.
In 2016, Nelson appeared in 15 games for the Chiefs and recorded 65 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and 16 pass defenses.
