The Kansas City Chiefs announced that they’ve released Sย Stevie Brown along with veteran WR Mike Williams on Wednesday.
The Chiefs are clearly getting a head start on roster cuts before next week’s deadline to be down to 75 players.
Brown, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the Raiders back in 2010. He bounced around a bit at the start of his career playing for the Raiders, Panthers and Colts before eventually signing on with the Giants in 2012.
After two years with the Giants, Brown signed a one-year deal with the Texans in April of last year.ย However, Houston cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
The Giants, who were in need of some safety help at the time, elected to bring Brown back for a just over a week before theyย released him at the start of the season.
Brown wound up signing a one-year,ย $760,000 deal with the Chiefs back in April.
In 2014, Brown appeared in all 16 games for the Giants last season and recorded 38 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 47 safety out of 87 qualifying players that year.
