David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Cowboys have decided to keep Travis Frederick on the active roster moving forward, even though there isn’t a definitive timetable for him to return.
Dallas could have placed Frederick on injured reserve and brought him back later on in the year, but Moore says thatย the Cowboys feel like his value to the team outweighs the uncertainty of knowing when he can return to the starting lineup.
Frederick hasย been diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome, which is a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks your nerves.
Frederick, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. He’s entering the third year of his eight-year, $66.56 million that included $26.2 million guaranteed.
Frederick stands to make base salaries of $10 million and $6 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Frederick appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 2 center out of 36 qualifying players.
