- Rapoport adds that the Dolphins will receive a late-round draft pick in return for Davis.
Reports from a few weeks ago said that the Dolphins were fielding trade offers for Davis, so this doesn’t come as a complete surprise.
Davis, 25, is a formerย third-round draft pick of the Dolphins back in 2013. He’s entering the third year of hisย four-year, $2.701 million rookie contractย that includedย a $521,200 signing bonusย and stands to make a base salary ofย $592,500 for the upcoming season.
According to OverTheCap.com, tradingย Davis willย free upย $462,200 in cap space while creatingย $260,600 inย dead money.
In 2014, Davis was limited to appearing in 10 games, in which he recorded 17 tackles and three pass defenses for Miami. It’s worth mentioning thatย Davis isย coming off a torn ACL that he sustained back inย November.
