Itโs interesting to see the Jets keep two outside linebackers that are both well into their thirties, but both players could have found at least some interest on the open market.
Although, itโs still unlikely that this will guarantee either player a roster spot.
Babin, 34, signed a two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Jets last July and will make a base salary of $1.35 million for the 2015 season. His option will run the Jets $250,000.
In 2014, Babin recorded 26 tackles and two sacks over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has Babin rated as the No. 9 outside linebacker in 3-4 defense out of 46 qualifying players.
Pace, 34, signed a two-year contract worth $5 million with the Jets last year. He has a base salary of $2.38 million for the 2015 season.
Last year, Pace recorded 38 tackles, 4.5 sacks and three pass defenses over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has Pace rated as the No. 39 outside linebacker in 3-4 defense out of 46 qualifying players.
