The New York Jets announced that they’ve released WR Jeremy Ross on Tuesday to make room for WR Jeremy Butler, who was claimed off of waivers from the Buccaneers.
Ross, 28, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of California back in 2011. He played briefly for the Colts before joining the Packers in October of 2012.
The Lions would later sign him to a contract and give him an opportunity to their kick returner where Ross showed some ability. However, he was among the team’s final roster cuts before signing on to the Ravens’ practice squad.
Ross eventually signed on with the Raiders and finished out the year in Oakland. However, they didn’t tender him a contract as a restricted free agent.
The Jets signed him in April only to cut him loose coming out of the preseason. Ross returned to the team a few weeks ago.
In 2016, Ross has been active for two games and totaled 52 kick return yards for the Jets.
