The New York Jets officially placed DB Doug Middleton on injured reserve Tuesday.
- Manish Mehta previously reported that Middleton was out for the season with a torn pectoral.
It’s worth mentioning that Rontez Miles is returning from the PUP list and the Jets have two safeties on their practice squad in Jeremy Clark and supplemental draft pick Brandon Bryant.
Middleton, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State back in 2016. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.
The Jets waived Middleton during the preseason last year with an injury designation and he later reverted to their injured reserve list. New York re-signed him to a one-year exclusive rights contract this past January.
In 2018, Middleton appeared in seven games and recorded 27 tackles, no interceptions and three pass defenses.
