The Detroit Lions announced Monday that they’ve re-signed exclusive rights free agents LB Steve Longa and DE Mitchell Loewen.
Longa, 24, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in 2016. He lasted just a few months in Seattle before he was waived and later signed to the Lions’ practice squad.
Longa was been on and off of the Lions’ taxi squad in 2017 before returning to Detroit last year on a futures contract. Unfortunately, he was placed on injured reserve during the preseason.
In 2017, Longa appeared in 15 games for the Lions and recorded 13 tackles.
Loewen, 25, signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2016. He has missed extensive time due to injury and been limited to appearing in just three games over his first three years in the NFL.
The Saints elected to cut Loewen loose last December and he was later claimed by the Lions.
In 2018, Loewen was active for one game, but did not record a statistic.
