According to Peter Schrager, the Lions are re-signing WR Danny Amendola to a one-year deal.
Amendola played a key role as Detroit’s slot receiver after signing on a one-year deal in 2019. He’ll presumably fill the same role for another season.
Amendola, 34, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech back in 2008. He spent over a year in Dallas before eventually signing on with the Eagles.
Amendola played a number of seasons for the Rams before the Patriots signed him to a five-year contract back in 2013. The Dolphins signed him to a two-year, $12 million contract that included $8.25 million guaranteed in 2018 only to release him last week. He caught on with the Lions on a one-year deal for 2019.
In 2019, Amendola appeared in 15 games for the Lions and caught 62 passes for 678 yards receiving (9.7 YPC) to go along with one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 receiver out of 122 qualifying players.
