Commanders
- Commanders GM Adam Peters wasn’t looking to go into detail about why they moved on from C Tyler Biadasz: “I really don’t want to get into specifics and we talked to Tyler about that. … I really appreciate what he did for us the last two years and wish him a lot of luck in L.A.” (Nicki Jhabvala)
- Peters wouldn’t have hesitations about taking a running back at No. 7 overall, but brought up their selection of Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the seventh-round last year. He said it comes down to whether they feel the player could impact the team the way you would want for someone drafted that high. (Jhabvala)
- Commanders HC Dan Quinn on TE Chig Okonkwo: “I love the speed. You see it on deep over routes and ones that build up speed on play-action.” (Nicki Jhabvala)
- Quinn believes TE Lawrence Cager could make a leap this offseason because of his unique skillset and work ethic. (Jhabvala)
- Quinn also revealed they did not explore a trade for C Tyler Biadasz before releasing him. (Jhabvala)
Cowboys
The Cowboys approach the 2026 NFL Draft with a pressing need at inside linebacker, with DeMarvion Overshown, Shemar James, and Justin Barron the only players on the roster. Dallas HC Brian Schottenheimer said they eyed some players in free agency and remain “open for business” at the position.
“Look, we made a run at some guys in free agency,” Schottenheimer said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. What do you do? You adjust. It’s something we’re working on 365 (days), 24-7. We’ve got a good plan. We’re not done. We’re always open for business. We recognize that we need to fill some holes there.”
Dallas missed on some of the top inside linebackers on the open market, like Devin Lloyd, Quay Walker, and Nakobe Dean. Cowboys executive Stephen Jones said things just “didn’t work out” for them in free agency.
“I wouldn’t say disappointing,” Jones said. “Any time you’re in the hunt for something you’d like to think things could work out, but we also look at every situation differently. Obviously in those particular cases, they just didn’t work out.”
Schottenheuimer said they made “very competitive” offers to those free agents. In the end, Schottenheimer made clear that they are “far from being done” at inside linebacker.
“Hey, we were trying,” Schottenheimer said. “And if they don’t take the money, they don’t take the money. I felt like the offers we made were very, very fair. They were big numbers. We were very competitive. It’s hard to compete with a couple of former teammates (Walker and Dean) that wanted to go play together. And there’s different reasons about why you lose these guys. But we were very competitive in those deals. But that’s the business. … We’re far from being done.”
Eagles
- Brooks Kubena of The Athletic writes that the Eagles are expected to add depth to the safety position, and they still have a vacant role to fill after losing Reed Blankenship to the Texans.
- Kubena notes that Philadelphia is “really excited” about former second-round S Andrew Mukuba, and they expect him to continue growing in his second year in the NFL.
- Kubena adds that the Eagles still need to sign more edge rushers after Jaelan Phillips departed to sign with the Panthers.
- Jalen Hurts is set to carry a cap hit of $31.97 million in 2026. Eagles GM Howie Roseman refused to elaborate on Hurts’ contract situation: “I’d just be consistent that that’s not a reflection on anything that we feel about any of our players, but I just think it’s easier for us to not go into our contract situation.”
- As for QB Tanner McKee entering the final year of his contract, Kubena notes that this is the final year for Philadelphia to capitalize on any trade interest for him.
- Kubena writes that TE Dallas Goedert remains Philadelphia’s top receiving option at his position after the team re-signed Grant Calcaterra, while E.J. Jenkins and Cam Latu are still under contract. Kubena also expects the Eagles to add another tight end.
