Panthers

Free agent S Tre Boston told the Charlotte Observer on Monday that he has no idea why he hasn’t been signed yet.

โ€œI have no idea. But if I told you thereโ€™s a 25-year-old out there, no nagging injuries, no off-field issues, 10 career picks (actually eight), 180 tackles-plus, three sacks (two), what would you tell me?โ€ Boston said.

โ€œI donโ€™t know. I canโ€™t say what upstairs is thinking. But I know I have the stats and the numbers to play with the best of them. So for me itโ€™s just being patient. Things are gonna happen.โ€

Boston mentioned that he spoke to the Panthers about the possibility of returning to Carolina, but it’s clear to him that they don’t value defensive backs as much as other teams.

โ€œKnowing how they do business, theyโ€™re a big front-seven team. Donโ€™t put a lot of value into the DBs,โ€ Boston said. โ€œItโ€™s just what theyโ€™ve done over the years. They kind of want to stick with that and I respected that.โ€

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.

Saints

  • According to the Advocate, the Saints and veteran CB Keenan Lewis are negotiating a settlement regarding the injury grievance he filed against them.
  • The report says that an arbitration hearing between Lewis and both the NFL and the Saints is scheduled for later this week.
