NFC West Notes: Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks

Cardinals

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald tells Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic that Sunday’s game will be no different for him than any other, despite the fact he could retire after the season.

โ€œNo different than any other game,โ€ Fitzgerald said. โ€œHoned in and ready to play as I have the hundreds of other times I have done it.โ€

Fitzgerald left the door open to possibly returning in 2019, but says he only play for the Cardinals.

โ€œIt may. It may not,โ€ Fitzgerald said. โ€œNFL careers end every Sunday. Iโ€™m just blessed to be able to play the game I love.โ€

โ€œI have never had any desire to play anywhere else.ย I started here.โ€

Rams

  • Ramsย HC Sean McVay said Wednesday that RB Todd Gurley (knee) is doing well and they expect him to play on Sunday. (Myles Simmons)
  • McVay added:ย “It’s going to predicated on what he says, what the doctors are saying. If thereโ€™s a chance that heโ€™s going to do something thatโ€™s going to set him back for when you get into the playoffs, different things like that, thatโ€™s where we have to make smart decisions.” (Gary Klein)
  • As for newly signed RB C.J. Anderson, McVay said he could play a role as soon as Sunday against the Cardinals: “Very sharp, cerebral player. Heโ€™s played in some systems very similar in terms of the verbiage, in terms of some of the things that we try to emphasize specific to the running game and in protections.” (Lindsey Thiry)

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said RB Rashaad Penny’s status is uncertain for Week 16 because of his knee. (Brady Henderson)
  • According to Carroll, they signed RB Bo Scarbrough off the Jaguars’ practice squad this season for “insurance” in case Penny is unable to play.
  • Seahawks signed C Marcus Henry to their practice squad. (NFLTR)
  • Seahawks released WR Damore’ea Stringfellow from their practice squad.
