NFL Notes: 49ers, Colts, Lions, Redskins

49ers

New 49ers DE Elvis Dumervil explained that he signed with the 49ers because he has a few years left him.

โ€œIf it was a situation where I felt it was my last year, thatโ€™s all I have left, I just want to win the Super Bowl (because) I just got one year left on my body, I could have gone about it different,โ€ Dumervil said, via Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area.

โ€œA lot of people are confused about where Iโ€™m at physically and mentally. . . Mentally and physically, I feel great. I know I have a few years left, for sure.โ€

Dumervil added that he was playing through an Achilles injury the past two years.

โ€œThe last two years, I really didnโ€™t play because I was dealing with an Achilles injury,โ€ Dumervil said. โ€œSometimes you donโ€™t know if youโ€™re hurt or injured. It was a situation where I thought I was hurt. You play through hurt. But I was really injured.โ€

Colts

Colts owner Jim Irsay told season-ticket holders on Thursday that QB Andrew Luck is โ€œhealing tremendouslyโ€ from the offseason shoulder surgery.

โ€œThis [surgery] has been a positive thing, not a negative thing or anything like that,โ€ Irsay said, via ESPN.com. โ€œHe was really struggling going through the process of being ready to play [each week last season]. This was, quite frankly, not that complicated of a surgery. This was a simple labrum repair. There are a lot of other things that could have been involved with this surgery that werenโ€™t.โ€

Lions

Lions WR Golden Tate tweeted that heโ€™s hoping to receive a contract extension from Detroit this offseason. This came after the news of Julian Edelmanโ€˜s new two-year extension with the Patriots.

Redskins

  • Despite being carted off during Wednesdayโ€™s OTA practice with a leg injury, John Keim reports that Redskins OT Kevin Bowenโ€™s left leg injury is not serious.
