NFL Notes: 49ers, Colts, Lions, Redskins

49ers

New 49ers DE Elvis Dumervil explained that he signed with the 49ers because he has a few years left him.

“If it was a situation where I felt it was my last year, that’s all I have left, I just want to win the Super Bowl (because) I just got one year left on my body, I could have gone about it different,” Dumervil said, via Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area.

“A lot of people are confused about where I’m at physically and mentally. . . Mentally and physically, I feel great. I know I have a few years left, for sure.

Dumervil added that he was playing through an Achilles injury the past two years.

“The last two years, I really didn’t play because I was dealing with an Achilles injury,” Dumervil said. “Sometimes you don’t know if you’re hurt or injured. It was a situation where I thought I was hurt. You play through hurt. But I was really injured.”

Colts

Colts owner Jim Irsay told season-ticket holders on Thursday that QB Andrew Luck is “healing tremendously” from the offseason shoulder surgery.

“This [surgery] has been a positive thing, not a negative thing or anything like that,” Irsay said, via ESPN.com. “He was really struggling going through the process of being ready to play [each week last season]. This was, quite frankly, not that complicated of a surgery. This was a simple labrum repair. There are a lot of other things that could have been involved with this surgery that weren’t.”

Lions

Lions WR Golden Tate tweeted that he’s hoping to receive a contract extension from Detroit this offseason. This came after the news of Julian Edelman‘s new two-year extension with the Patriots.

Redskins

  • Despite being carted off during Wednesday’s OTA practice with a leg injury, John Keim reports that Redskins OT Kevin Bowen’s left leg injury is not serious.
