- According to Joel Corry, a free agent to watch for the Cardinals could be Colts TE Coby Fleener, given that he has previously worked with HC Bruce Arians.
Cowboys
Cowboys executive VPย Stephen Jones said that they were looking to draft a running back last year, but things just didn’t work out for them.
โWe were after a running back,โ Jones said, via the Star-Telegram. โItโs just you know it didnโt fall that way for us. Itโs always easy to say after the fact, โWell, that guy you could have picked him, because he was still on the board rather than [third-round tackle] Chaz Green, or you could have picked this guy.โ Thatโs easy in hindsight. But we did have backs that we were targeting who just werenโt there when we were ready to pick.โ
Interestingly enough, Jones mentioned that they thought they could get Thomas Rawls as an undrafted rookie free agent, but he wound up signing on with the Seahawks.
โWe thought we had a heck of a chance to get him,โ Jones said. โIf you want to hindsight yourself to death: Should we have used one of those sevenths on him? Probably so. We liked him, but we really thought we could get him.”
- Brandon George points out that theย Cowboys should have aroundย $12 million in cap space work with this offseason, but could boost that figure to around $24 million by restructuring LT Tyron Smith and DL Tyrone Crawford‘s contracts.
