NFL Notes: Draft, Chiefs, Jaguars, & Jets

Draft

• German WR Moritz Boehringer mentioned that he’s visited with the Chiefs, Packers, Saints and Panthers. (Sirius XM NFL Radio)

Chiefs

• Chiefs GM John Dorsey mentioned that OLB Justin Houston is ahead of schedule in regards to his rehab. (BJ Kissel)
• Dorsey said of Houston: “Our doctors have reassured us that Justin will be playing this season.” (Terez A. Paylor)
• Dorsey told reporters that extension talks with franchise S Eric Berry‘s representatives are still going on. (BJ Kissel)

Jaguars

• Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell told reporters on Friday that he has contacted the reps for free agent CB Josh Norman.
• However, Caldwell added that there is a “pretty significant difference” from their potential offer and what Norman is asking for right now. (Michael DiRocco)
• Caldwell also mentioned that talks between the two parties didn’t progress far enough for them to discuss a potential visit. (Ryan O’Halloran)

Jets

• Jets GM Mike Maccagnan said of why they haven’t re-signed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick: “Nothing’s changed. We like Ryan. He’s a very good fit for us.” (Kimberly A. Martin)
• Maccagnan added: “Our focus has always been Ryan [Fitzpatrick]. We like Ryan and that’s [the contract] we’re trying to facilitate.”
• According to Maccagnan, the situation involving Fitzpatrick won’t impact their draft plans. (Rich Cimini)
• Maccagnan said he would “consider drafting a quarterback at any point in the draft.” (Brian Costello)
• In regards to the reports that they tried to trade up to No. 1 overall, Maccagnan said they were just doing their “due diligence.” (Dom Consentino)
• Maccagnan wouldn’t say if Muhammad Wilkerson was involved in potential negotiations for the top pick. (Seth Walder)
• Maccagnan did, however, say that they are not actively shopping Wilkerson. (Seth Walder)
