Josh Sweat
- Ian Rapoport reports that some teams are concerned about the serious knee injury FSU edge rusher Josh Sweat suffered during high school.
- An interesting note from Rapoport is that the Giants team doctor Russ Warren actually performed the surgery on Sweat, which could make them a team to watch.
- Tom Pelisseroย adds that teams liked thatย Sweat decided to ditch his knee brace for pre-draft workouts. Sweat has said he feels confident and faster without the brace.
Rasheem Green
Mike Florio reports that USC defensive end Rasheem Green has sent a letter to all 32 teams explaining that the torn ACL in his left is not an issue.
According to Florio, an MRI performed on Green’s knee at the Combine showed that the new ACL was โwavy.โ
Seahawks team physician Dr. Ed Khalfayan determined that both knees were equally stable, but Dr. Walter R. Lowe later interpreted the Seattle MRI to show that the repaired ACL remains in place.
โOverall, he is stable and performing at a very high level on objective functional test,โ Dr. Lowe wrote. โI have NOT graded him as high risk for the purpose of our pre-draft evaluations. Anyone with questions about his combine studies should view his new 3T MRI from Seattle done last week.โ
Florio reports that Green visited with the Patriots, Lions, Seahawks, Chargers, and Rams and worked out for the Saints, Texans, Patriots, and Bills during the pre-draft process.
Draft
- Peter King spoke with a source who is “very often right and is very well-connected” who told him that the Browns will not take Josh Allen No. 1 overall. With this in mind, King projects the Browns to use the first overall pick on Sam Darnold.
- King says that the Cardinals “love” Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield and projects Arizona to trade up with the Broncos to get him at No. 5 overall.
- King admits that he doesn’t know if the Bills love Wyoming QB Josh Allen, but he knows they like his ability to throw the ball.
- Regarding the Colts possibly trading down from No. 6 overall, King says they may not ask for both of the Bills’ first-round picks to move back and could instead target a package that consists of both of their second-rounders, which are worth more than No. 22 overall. King suggests the Bills trading No. 12, 53, 56 and 96 for No. 6 overall.
- According to King, some teams in round one worth watching in terms of potential trades back include Browns (No. 4), Colts (No. 6), Ravens (No. 16), Seahawks (No. 18), Patriots (No. 23 & 31), Saints (No. 27) and Eagles (No. 32).
