During an appearance on Sirius NFL Radio, San Diego Chargers S Eric Weddle discussed his future and specifically mentioned that he would like to return to San Diego. If that doesn’t end up being the case, Weddle listed the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings as teams that he’ll consider signing with.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter writes that there will be plenty of teams with interest in Weddle once free agency is finally underway.
“There are multiple teams that could use Weddle, and Minnesota would be included in that group. How about Dallas? How about Jacksonville? How about Cincinnati? How about Denver? How about San Diego itself? We could go on and on. The point is, it will come down to the team that most wants him. He is a good player, a good leader and will draw plenty of interest on the open market.”
Agreed. As of now we have Weddle as the best available safety in this years free agent class and the #20 overall player in our Top 50 Free Agents List. Of the teams that Weddle listed, I’d have to say that the Cowboys are the team to watch. Early rumors suggested that they are in fact interested in Weddle and it’s really no secret that they could use help at the back end of their defense.
