Packers Promote WR Jared Abbrederis To Active Roster, Waive DT Bruce Gaston

The Green Bay Packers have promoted WRย Jared Abbrederis to their active roster on Saturday, according to Field Yates.

  • The Packers placed DTย Bruce Gaston on waivers to make room forย Abbrederis.

The Packers are clearly looking to bolster their depth ahead of tomorrow’s match up against the 49ers now that WR Davante Adams has been downgraded to doubtful.

Abbrederis, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Packers out of Wisconsin. However, injuries have prevented him from seeing much playing time overall.

The Packers ultimately elected to waive Abbrederis during final roster cuts, but managed to get him on their practice squad a few days later.

Abbrederis has yet to appear in an NFL game.

  1. Stupid move, we cut a defensive linemen with all of the injuries we have had. Gaston never even got a real fair chance to play. He is young and was just starting to get a little playing time. So we cut him just to have a extra reciever sit on the bench for the 49er’s game ? Everyone knows the 49er’s are nowhere as good as they were just a year ago, so why all the panic just to give up on a young defensive linemen for reciever who never has played one play in the nfl. Many will probably disagree with me but this is just my opinion. Lets make room for a player who gets arrested with over $200k cash and a bunch of weed. Packers should of dumped his ass. Just a stupid bone head move all for nothing

  2. Use him on returns immediately. With 33 starting at Safety and 88 starting at WR, we can’t afford any more key injuries.

  3. YES!!!! I’ve been hoping for this move to happen. Arod speaks highly of Jared’s football IQ.He has said Abbrederis is a polished route runner with good hands.Davante Adams can now heal completely and even sit out until our bye after week six. Rushing back from ankle injuries can only plague you the rest of the season. GO PACK GO!!! Abbrederis won’t let us down.Let’s here it for the hometown boy.
