According to Mike Garafolo, the Packers are releasing DL Mike Daniels Wednesday.
This comes as a major surprise, as Daniels was a former Pro Bowler and a mainstay on the Packers defensive line.
Garafolo added the Packers explored trading Daniels, but found no suitors. He expects the Browns to have interest in Daniels as a free agent.
The move comes one day after the Packers signed DL Dean Lowry to a three-year extension.
Daniels, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Packers back in 2012. He was entering the final year of his five-year, $41.66 million contract and set to make a base salary of $7.6 million for the 2019 season.
According to Over The Cap, releasing Daniels saves the Packers $8.312 million in cap space.
In 2018, Daniels appeared in 10 games for the Packers and recorded 18 tackles, two sacks, and a pass defense.
