Raiders Expected To Make “Serious Run” At Signing WR Tyrell Williams

According to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Raiders are considered likely to make a “serious run” at signing Chargers WR Tyrell Williams in free agency.

The Raiders have made it clear that they’re looking to surround QB Derek Carr with more offensive weapons and Williams is in line to be one of the most sought-after receivers in this year’s market.

Oakland has been mentioned as having interest in a trade for Steelers WR Antonio Brown as well, but signing Williams wouldn’t require them to part with draft compensation.

Earlier in the day, Jason La Canfora said he expects Williams to get a “massive payday” at around $12 million per year.

Williams, 27, wound up signing on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Western Oregon back in 2015. He managed to make the Chargers’ 53-man roster the past two years and returned to Los Angeles on a one-year restricted tender worth $2.914 million for the 2018 season.

In 2018, Williams appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and caught 41 passes for 653 yards receiving and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 15 yards on two carries. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 66 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
