Theย Patriots ultimatelyย declinedย toย pick upย Revis’ $20 million option, making him anย unrestricted free agent.
However, there was still some optimism that he could return to the Patriots in the coming days. The problem, of course, was the fact that the Jets were committed to paying Revis a massive contract to bring him back to New York.
Revis, 29,ย recorded 47 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery and 14 pass defenses over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has Revis rated as the No. 4 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.
We hadย Revis listed as the No. 2 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
