Update:
According to Albert Breer, the colts have made calls to candidates for their head coaching job to tell them that they’ve been eliminated. The Colts are expected to hire Patriots OC Josh McDaniels as their next head coach once New England’s season is officially over.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports Patriots OC Josh McDaniels is a “virtual lock” to be the Colts’ next head coach, despite the reports of the Titans’ interest from earlier this morning.
According to La Canfora, the Titans have “little to no shot” of landing McDaniels at this point in time and the Colts remain the “heavy favorites” to hire him as their next head coach.
This fits with what Michael Lombardi said during an interview with the Midday 180 Monday. According to Lombardi, it appears “the McDaniels ship has sailed to Colts” as talks are too far down the lien to turnย back.
Both McDaniels and Colts GM Chris Ballard and McDaniels are repped by the same agent, Bob Lamonte, which could help Indianapolis close the deal.
Reports are clearly all over the place right now regarding McDaniels and the open head-coaching jobs, so it’s not all that surprising to see conflicting reports surface.
McDaniels, 41, began his NFL coaching career with the Patriots as a personnel assistant back in 2001. He worked his way up to offensive coordinator in New England before he departed for the Broncos head-coaching job in 2009.
Unfortunately, things didnโt go very well for McDaniels with the Broncos and he was fired during his second year with the team.
After a brief stint with the Rams as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, McDaniels returned to the Patriots and has been running their offenseย ever since.
We’ll have more regarding McDaniels as the news is available.
