According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, it “sounds” like the Panthers have an agreement in place with veteran WR Jason Avant.

• Person adds that an official announcement could come soon.

Avant was visiting with the Panthers Monday after finding some interest from teams like the Patriots and Chiefs.

The Panthers have checked in on a number of receivers, but have only signed Jerricho Cotchery and Tiquan Underwood this offseason.

Avant had been spent all eight years of his career with the Eagles before they elected to cut him loose a little over a week ago.

In 2013, he totaled 28 receptions for 447 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of 16 games.
