The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Saturday that they’ve activated LB Robert Spillane and OL Matt Feiler from injured reserve and promoted TE Kevin Rader to their active roster.
The Steelers also waived Tegray Scales.
Feiler, 28, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Bloomsburg back in 2014. He spent just over a year in Houston before being waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the Steelers’ practice squad.
Feiler has returned to the Steelers on a one-year restricted contract this past April and is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
In 2020, Feiler has appeared in 13 games for the Steelers, making 13 starts for them.
We have him included in our Top 100 – 2021 Free Agents list.
Spillane, 24, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan back in 2018. He was cut coming out of the preseason as a rookie and re-signed to the practice squad. Tennessee promoted him to the active roster after a month but was waived a few weeks later.
The Steelers signed him to a futures deal in February of last year and re-signed to their practice squad coming out of training camp. Pittsburgh promoted him to the active roster last month.
In 2020, Spillane has appeared in 12 games and recorded 45 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, four pass defenses, one fumble recovery, and scored one defensive touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him graded as the No. 21 linebacker out of 87 players.
