Steelers OT Zach Banner Has Torn ACL, Out For Season

According to Tom Pelissero, the initial diagnosis for Steelers OT Zach Banner is a torn ACL, which would be a season-ending injury.

Pelissero adds Banner will have an MRI to confirm. However, ACL injuries are typically easy to diagnose and it will be a formality.

This is a big blow to Banner, who had brought his NFL career back from the brink and won the starting right tackle job this year. Expect Pittsburgh to place him on injured reserve as he works to come back strong in 2021.

Banner, 26, is a former fourth-round pick by the Colts in the 2017 NFL Draft. Indianapolis cut him loose at the start of his rookie season and was claimed by the Browns.

Cleveland waived him in March of 2018 and was claimed by the Panthers, but cut during spring camp. He signed with the Steelers in August of 2018 and finished out his rookie contract last season. He re-signed this offseason as a restricted free agent.

In 2019, Banner appeared in 14 games for the Steelers and started once.
