Steelers Pick Up $2M Of Cap Room By Reworking TE Vance McDonald’s Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers restructured TE Vance McDonald‘s contract to create $2 million in available cap space.

McDonald, 28, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when the 49ers signed him to a new five-year, $35 million extension, but was traded to the Steelers in exchange for a 2018 fifth round pick.

In 2017, McDonald appeared in 10 games and caught 14 passes for 188 yards receiving and one touchdown.  Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 7 tight end out of 70 qualifying players.
