According to Ray Fittipaldo, the Steelers have promoted LB L.J. Fort from their practice squad to the active roster and waived LB Steven Johnson in a corresponding roster move.
Fort, 26, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2012. He last just over a year in Cleveland before he was among their final roster cuts.
Fort had brief stints with the Seahawks, Bengals, and Patriots before he was claimed off of waivers by the Steelers during the 2015 preseason. Fort was on and off of their active roster last year before he was cut loose.
Pittsburgh signed him to their practice squad in recent weeks.
This season, Fort has appeared in one game and recorded two tackles and no sacks for the Steelers.
