The Bears agreed to a trade with the Patriots to move up and select Iowa State RB David Montgomery in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Montgomery, 21, earned several awards while at Idaho State including being a first-team All-American in 2017 and 2018, first-team All-Big 12 in 2017 and 2018.
During his three-year college career, Montgomery recorded 624 rushing attempts for 2,925 yards (4.7 YPC) and 26 touchdowns to go along with 71 receptions, 582 yards receiving (8.2 YPC) and no touchdowns.
