Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie was asked whether or not head coach Andy Reid would survive another 8 and 8 season this year. Lurie reportedly responded by saying that Reid would be fired in that situation, per Judy Battista.
So much went wrong for the Eagles last season that it’s hard to not criticize the coaching staff and Reid in particular. Philadelphia has much improved defense this year, as well as some solid weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Clearly, a playoff birth is expected by ownership and the fans of Philadelphia, but I’m sure losing in the first-round wouldn’t help his chances of returning for another season. Barring a deep playoff run, it’s safe to assume that this will be a topic discussion by the end of the year.
