In recent months, Baltimore Ravens G Marshal Yanda has been some what of a hot topic on the rumor mill. Offensive linemen are almost always hot commodities on the open market and this year appears to be no different. The good news for players like Yanda, Davin Joseph and Carl Nicks is that there’s a large demand for interior lineman and they represent some of the best available options in this years free agent class.
The Ravens have already said that they have Yanda at the top of their offseason priorities list so he can expect an offer as soon as free agency is open for business. Yanda has played both guard and offensive tackle which leaves him as one of the most versatile lineman in this years free agent class.
Yanda’s agent Neil Cornrich discussed the possibility of him returning to the Ravens with 105.7 FM the Fan in Baltimore.
“Both Marshal and I are very aware that if Baltimore isn’t the best organization in pro football, it’s certainly in the top couple,” Cornrich declared. “Having said that, there’s 31 other clubs and a lot of them are great. We’ll just have to see what happens.”
Cornrich is basically saying that they will test the market to gauge the open interest in his client.
Speculative options would include: the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and the Washington Redskins. I could see the Bears making a serious run at him considering that they could really use an upgrade to their interior offensive line, plus they should have the cap space to lure a big name free agent.
