NFL Still Weighing Suspensions For Several Players, Including Puka Nacua, Josh Jacobs & Tyreek Hill

On an episode of The Adam Schefter Podcast, Schefter named various players who could potentially get suspended before the start of the season for recent issues.

According to Schefter, Rams WR Puka Nacua could face discipline for the off-field headlines and incidents dating back to last year. Schefter says “it’s within the realm of options” that Nacua will not be able to play the team’s season opener in Australia.

Schefter then brought up Packers RB Josh Jacobs, Broncos OLB Jonathon Cooper, Rams LT Alaric Jackson and free agent WR Tyreek Hill, saying all those cases are still under review and being investigated, with discipline still being an option for all those players. Schefter said these situations will have more clarity by the regular season or even sooner.

Regarding Falcons OLB James Pearce Jr., Schefter said there’s no question if he will be suspended, the only uncertainty is with the duration of the suspension. Schefter thinks it could be anywhere from six games to a season, and the Falcons are reportedly bracing for a significant suspension.

Nacua, 25, was a fifth-round pick of the Rams in the 2023 NFL Draft out of BYU. He just finished the third year of a four-year, $4.1 million contract through 2026 and made a base salary of $1.03 million in 2025.

In 2025, Nacua appeared in 16 games for the Rams and caught 129 passes on 166 targets for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 105 yards and another touchdown.

Jacobs, 28, was selected with the No. 24 overall pick by the Raiders out of Alabama in 2019. He later agreed to a four-year, $11,933,394 rookie contract that included a $6,698,832 signing bonus. 

Las Vegas declined Jacobs’ fifth-year options ahead of the 2022 season, which set him up to be an unrestricted free agent in 2023. The team then used the franchise tag on Jacobs worth $10.09 million fully guaranteed for the 2023 season. However, the two sides agreed to an amended one-year deal after Jacobs held out during training camp. 

He signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers as an unrestricted free agent in 2024. 

In 2025, Jacobs appeared in 15 games for the Packers and recorded 234 rushing attempts for 929 yards (4.0 YPC) and 13 touchdowns, to go along with 36 receptions on 44 targets for 282 yards (7.8 YPC) and one touchdown.

Hill, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract in 2019 when the Chiefs signed him to a new three-year, $54 million extension that included $35.2 million guaranteed. 

The Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins during the 2022 offseason. From there, Hill signed a four-year, $120 million contract with the Dolphins, which included $72.2 million in guaranteed money.

He was due base salaries of $19.665 million and $21.835 million over his next two seasons when he agreed to a reworked three-year, $90 million contract with $65 million in guarantees heading into the 2024 season. Miami then released Hill in February 2026 as he was recovering from a significant leg injury.

In 2025, Hill appeared in four games for the Dolphins and caught 21 passes on 29 targets for 265 yards and one touchdown.
