Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports that the Saints “have made it clear” that they want to re-sign impending free agent OT Jermon Bushrod.
Breer adds that the two sides are expected to talk sometime next week, but the Saints still have some cap issues to address in the time being.
Clearly, the fact that this year’s free agent class is loaded with offensive tackles is going to have a big impact on the amount of money that guys like Bushrod are going to be secure on the open market. This could work to the Saints benefit as they might be able to lock him up to a more reasonable contract at some point in the near future.
