Titans Promote CB D’Joun Smith, Place DL Karl Klug On I.R.

The Tennessee Titans announced Wednesday that they’ve placed DL Karl Klug on injured reserve and promoted CB D’Joun Smith to their active roster.

Smith, 22, was taken in the third round of last year’s NFL draft by the Colts and signed a four-year, $3.314 million rookie contract that included an $808,846 signing bonus.

Indianapolis placed Smith knee on short-term I.R. with a knee injury just a few weeks into the regular season. The Colts later waived him with an injury designation and he later reverted to their injured reserve list.

Indianapolis decided to waive Smith from injured reserve with a settlement back in September and he signed on to the Lions’ practice squad a few weeks later.

Tennessee added him to their practice squad a few weeks ago.

In 2015, Smith appeared in four games and recorded one tackle and a fumble recovery for the Colts.

Klug, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Titans back in 2011. He’s currently in the final year of his two-year, $3.75 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.5 million for the 2016 season before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2016, Klug has appeared in 14 games and recorded 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pass defense for the Titans.
