Veteran RB C.J. Spiller Goes Unclaimed, Now A Free Agent

Former Jets RB C.J. Spiller officially passed through waivers unclaimed on Wednesday and is now free to sign on with a team of his choosing, according to Adam Caplan.

Spiller, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in in 2010. He spent five years in Buffalo before signing a four-year, $16 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed with the Saints.

Spiller was set to make a base salary of $1.7 million for the 2016 season when the Saints cut him loose. The Seahawks later signed him to a contract but released him back in October.

The Jets signed him to a contract few weeks later but elected to cut him loose on Tuesday.

In 2016, Spiller appeared in six games for the Seahawks and Jets and ran for 18 yards on six carries to go along with six receptions for 50 yards receiving and one touchdown.
