The complete 2024 NFLTR Top 100 Players is in the books and we’ve got the full list below, along with loads more content like honorable mentions, a team-by-team breakdown and links to the full writeups for each section.

The 49ers lead the way with 10 players and once again look like one of the most talented teams in the league. Teams like the Chiefs, Eagles and Ravens rank highly, as you’d expect, with offseason darlings like the Texans and Jets joining them. The Dolphins are a team that looks surprisingly high after losing so many players this offseason. 

On the other end, the Panthers and Cardinals are the lone teams without a top-100 player. Panthers DT Derrick Brown was the closest to qualifying for Carolina, while Arizona has a few players who could end up on next year’s list if they continue their strong stretches to end the 2023 season like QB Kyler Murray and TE Trey McBride. 

Washington, Denver, New England and Tennessee finished with just one top 100 player each. 

Here’s how the top 100 list breaks down by position:

There was a weight applied for positional value to the list, so players at lower-value positions like running back, linebacker and safety had to clear a higher bar to make the top 100 compared to other positions like tackle or edge rusher. 

This also shows areas around the league where the talent is particularly deep, especially wide receiver. Edge rusher and defensive tackle are two other position groups that stood out as loaded while compiling the list.

Honorable Mentions

These players didn’t make the cut for the top 100, but I’ve included them here to show just how competitive it was to put together this list. There were hard decisions made. 

• Lions QB Jared Goff: His career renaissance has been vital to the Lions’ resurgence. He and the team have found a way to maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses. Goff has thrown for over 9,000 yards and nearly 60 touchdowns the past two seasons. 
• Ravens RB Derrick Henry: Remains a unique player even as he ages who can do things no other running back in the league can and is a challenge every week for opposing defenses. 
• Jets RB Breece Hall: His talent has shone through despite a horrid situation on offense around him. Poised for a breakthrough in 2024. 
• Bears WR D.J. Moore: Career year with over 1,300 receiving yards and continued to develop as a downfield weapon as well as being a dangerous weapon after the catch. 
• Cowboys OL Tyler Smith: Moved inside to guard with Tyron Smith healthy at left tackle for the bulk of the year and continued the strong start to his career for someone initially pegged as a developmental prospect. 
• Packers G Elgton Jenkins: Didn’t have to shuttle around the line as much due to injury, so the Packers didn’t need his valuable five-position ability. Still held it down for the team at guard. 
• Patriots OL Michael Onwenu: Wide, powerful run blocker and makes defenders take the long way around in pass protection. Adepth at guard or tackle. 
• Steelers OLB Alex Highsmith: His sacks dropped in half from a breakout 2022 season but the bigger picture with total pressures and win rates show Highsmith was more disruptive in 2023 than he was in 2022. 
• Packers OLB Rashan Gary: Picked up steam as the year went on and he got further from a torn ACL in 2022 that was a temporary detour to his rise as an ascending pass rusher. 
• Giants OLB Brian Burns: Didn’t get a lot of opportunities to pin his ears back and rush with how much the Panthers played from behind. Still had eight sacks and one of the better pass rush win rates among edge rushers. You get the sense there’s another level for him to reach still. 

 

• Panthers DT Derrick Brown: Possibly the most dominant run defender among all defensive tackles last year. Not as dangerous as a pass rusher — yet. 
• Raiders DT Christian Wilkins: The Dolphins wouldn’t meet his asking price last offseason citing a need for more sacks. After a career year as a pass rusher with nine sacks and 61 pressures, doubling his output from 2022, the Raiders paid up with a monster deal in free agency to land Wilkins. 
• Eagles DT Jalen Carter: Was instantly a factor as a rookie with six sacks, a fumble-six and a No. 6 ranking in ESPN’s pass rush win rate leaderboard for defensive tackles. 
• Jaguars DT Arik Armstead: Salary and injury concerns prompted the 49ers to move on but when Armstead was on the field in 2023, the 30-year-old defender remained a productive part of San Francisco’s deep and talented defensive line. 
• Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs: A torn ACL cut short what looked like a promising season for Diggs after just 100 snaps. The criticism of Diggs has been his consistency, as despite great ball production he’s not the stickiest cover. He’s improved in that area in the past two seasons, however. 
• Cowboys CB DaRon Bland: Pressed into action unexpectedly when Diggs went down, Bland was a revelation with a league-leading nine interceptions, a staggering five of which he returned for touchdowns. It was eerily like Diggs’ 2021 season with 11 interceptions, but Bland was actually a better coverage player than Diggs was that year. 
• Titans CB L’Jarius Sneed: Sneed was a tone-setter for the Chiefs’ secondary and their excellent defense in 2023. He was a huge reason the team won the Super Bowl, and will bring his playmaking talents to the Titans. 
• Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie: Was named first-team All-Pro despite not picking off a pass and not having particularly outstanding coverage metrics either. However, he was a straight playmaker from the slot with five forced fumbles and three sacks. 
• Browns CB Martin Emerson: Doesn’t have the name recognition yet but an ascending corner to watch after picking off four passes and allowing a sub-50 percent completion rate in 2023. 

Fallers From 2023

These are the players who made the list in 2023 who were left off this year’s edition, with their rank in parentheticals: 

1. 1. Rams DT Aaron Donald (4): Retired
   2. Eagles C Jason Kelce (31): Retired
   3. Steelers DL Cameron Heyward (43): Injuries robbed him of most of last season and limited his effectiveness when he was on the field. Turned 35 in May. 
   4. Bills DE Von Miller (44): Did not look recovered from his 2022 torn ACL and had to rework his deal to avoid being cut this offseason. 
   5. Chargers OLB Joey Bosa (45): Injuries have become an unfortunate theme. Has played 14 of 34 possible games the past two seasons. 
   6. Eagles CB Darius Slay (55): Slay’s play didn’t fall off a cliff like the rest of Philadelphia’s defense. He still had 14 PD’s, two picks and made the Pro Bowl. But it’s fair to say his play slipped a little from the level he was at the previous few years. 
   7. Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey (56): Limited to 10 games and wasn’t as much of a playmaker as prior years. Remained strong in coverage with a sub-50 percent completion percentage allowed, one of the best figures in the league, but needs a big year to secure future in Baltimore. 
   8. Bears S Kevin Byard (57): He was a member of the Titans this time last year before being traded midseason to the Eagles to try and fix their secondary issues. Things did not improve and Byard wasn’t blameless. Turns 31 in August and seems like he might be nearing the end. 
   9. Saints RT Ryan Ramczyk (58): One of the top right tackles in football, a career-threatening knee injury limited him to 12 games last year and has already shut him down for 2024. A reminder of how quickly things can be cut short. Ramczyk didn’t turn 30 until this past April. 
   10. Chargers S Derwin James (60): Just didn’t play as well in 2023 as he had in prior years. Turns 28 this year but has a long injury history. 
        
        
   11. Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (63): Topped 1,000 yards to keep his streak alive, but barely. Nothing came as easy for McLaurin as it had in previous seasons, whether it was route running or catching the football. It was a bit of a theme for Washington last year. 
   12. Free agent CB Stephon Gilmore (64): Just not the same player he was earlier in his career. 
   13. Browns DE Za’Darius Smith (66): He was more disruptive than his 5.5 sack total suggests in 2023 but the 31-year-old veteran still saw his effectiveness dip. 
   14. Free agent S Justin Simmons (67): It’s not a coincidence that the Broncos’ defense improved dramatically when he returned last year but it also speaks volumes that he remains unsigned. An over-saturated safety market alone doesn’t explain that. 
   15. Commanders DT Daron Payne (74): Sack total dipped to four after notching 11.5 in a contract year the season before. Sacks don’t always match impact, but in this case, Payne was also less disruptive than the year before. 
   16. Packers OL Elgton Jenkins (77): Still a quality player and narrowly missed inclusion. 
   17. Eagles CB James Bradberry (78): Great example of why teams can be so wary to pay aging cornerbacks. Legitimately great player in 2022, but the age cliff hit him hard in 2023. 
   18. Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett (79): There were some signs of slippage from Lockett last year, although had a few big drops gone a different way, his production wouldn’t have looked much different from 2022. More than anything, a backlog of talented receivers pushed Lockett down. 
   19. Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (81): Rodgers played just four snaps and didn’t get a chance to put a mediocre 2022 season behind him. He’s got a lot to prove in 2024. 
   20. Giants OLB Brian Burns (83): Talented pass rusher who’s worked to become more of a complete player, but still hasn’t quite put things together to leap up to the tier he’s valued at based on his last contract. 
        
        
   21. Free agent OT David Bakhtiari (84): Played just one game due to his balky knee. 
   22. Vikings RT Brian O’Neill (85): Quality starter who was passed by other players, both at his position and others. 
   23. Browns RB Nick Chubb (86): One of the most talented runners in football, Chubb unfortunately suffered a gruesome knee injury and it remains to be seen if he can return to his prior form. The odds are against it but Chubb has beaten the odds before. 
   24. Bills LB Matt Milano (87): Outstanding player whose season was cut short by a knee injury. Turns 30 soon and knee injuries and aging players aren’t a good mix. 
   25. Patriots OL Michael Onwenu (90): Underrated player but a combination of injuries, strong performances by other players and a little bit of scheme specificity nudged Onwenu off the top 100 list. 
   26. Free agent CB Patrick Peterson (92): Couldn’t fend off Father Time forever. 
   27. Dolphins OLB Jaelan Phillips (93): A torn Achilles cut short a potential breakout campaign. 
   28. Browns G Wyatt Teller (94): Peaked as one of the top guards in football but has seen his play slip slightly in the years since and has been passed by other players. 
   29. Saints CB Marshon Lattimore (95): Injuries and friction with the coaching staff have caused a drop in production the past two years. Needs to stay healthy to reassert himself as a top corner. 
   30. Bengals WR Tee Higgins (97): Injuries, both to Higgins and the Bengals’ quarterback room, combined to limit him to less than 1,000 yards for the first time since he was a rookie and a new career low.
   31. Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (100): A torn ACL in Week 3 robbed him of the chance to prove he belonged higher on the top 100.
