AFC North Notes: Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Steelers

Bengals

  • ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Bengals were also interested in LB Joe Schobert but weren’t willing to beat the Jaguars’ five-year, $53.75 million offer. 

Browns

  • NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo reports the Browns are not cutting DE Olivier Vernon yet, though he doesn’t rule out the possibility. 
  • The rest of Browns WR Odell Beckham‘s $14 million base salary became fully guaranteed Wednesday. (Jake Trotter)
  • Browns TE Austin Hooper‘s four-year, $42 million deal includes a $10 million signing bonus, base salaries of $1.5 million, $4.5 million, $9.5 million and $9.5 million. (Aaron Wilson)
  • Hooper’s 2020 base is fully guaranteed, while his 2021 base is guaranteed for injury at signing and becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2021 league year. 

Ravens

  • ESPN’s Jamison Hensley says not to rule out the Ravens being able to keep CB Jimmy Smith despite the fear they might be priced out on the open market. 
  • Ravens DT Michael Brockers‘ three-year deal includes a $10.5 million signing bonus and base salaries of $1.5 million guaranteed (2020, and $9 million in 2021-2022. (Aaron Wilson)

Steelers

  • Brooke Pryor reports that the Steelers restructure C Maurkice Pouncey‘s contract on Wednesday. Pryor notes that Pouncey was due a $5M base salary, $3M roster bonus and $3M pro-rated bonus this year.
  • According to Adam Caplan, Steelers K Chris Boswell‘s restructure converted part of his base salary for this season only, lowering it to $910,000, and his $1 million roster bonus to a signing bonus. 
  • Steelers LS Kameron Canady‘s two-year, $2.425 million deal includes a $450,000 signing bonus and base salaries of $910,000 and $1.065 million. (Aaron Wilson)
  • Steelers FB Derek Watt‘s three-year, $9.75 million deal includes a $3.25 million signing bonus, base salaries of $1 million, $1.75 million and $2.75 million, and a $1 million 2021 roster bonus due the third day of the league year. (Wilson)
